Tour Details

Discover Rajasthan through WalkAroundIndia’s curated “Roots of Rajasthan” journey — a exploration of royal architecture, desert landscapes, and living craft traditions across the state’s most storied cities. This immersive cultural and architecture tour traces the legacy of Rajasthan’s royal houses while connecting their palaces and forts to the everyday traditions of the communities who still call these cities home.
Designed for heritage travellers, architecture and design enthusiasts, textile and craft lovers, and cultural explorers, the journey travels across Jaipur, Jodhpur, Udaipur, and Jaisalmer — tracing the evolution of Rajasthani architecture from hilltop forts and walled cities to lake palaces and desert citadels.

The tour begins in Jaipur, the pink city, exploring the City Palace, Amber Fort, and the bazaars and havelis of the old walled town. In Jodhpur, experience the imposing Mehrangarh Fort and the blue-washed lanes of the old city, one of Rajasthan’s most striking urban landscapes.

In Udaipur, the journey explores the City Palace complex and Lake Pichola, where Rajput architecture meets water in a setting long favoured by painters and poets. The experience concludes in Jaisalmer, a living fort city rising from the Thar Desert, where sandstone havelis and an active fort community offer a rare example of architecture still lived in, rather than only preserved.

Alongside architecture, the tour includes curated cultural experiences — textile and craft interactions, folk music, local cuisine, heritage walks, and meaningful engagement with Rajasthan’s living traditions.
This journey offers a rare opportunity to explore the relationship between royal history, desert ecology, and living culture through expertly curated experiences led by researchers, heritage specialists, and cultural
